From 13 October 2025, the way you log in to Companies House is changing.

If you manage company filings, you’ll need to be prepared for a key update: the traditional Companies House WebFiling login will be replaced by the new GOV.UK One Login system.

This change is part of a broader push toward modernisation, security, and better digital services, and it forms another piece of the puzzle under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA).

What Is GOV.UK One Login?

GOV.UK One Login is a single, secure way to access a range of UK government services using one set of login details. From 13 October 2025, it will become the required method for accessing your Companies House WebFiling account.

Key features include:
– A single sign-in for multiple government services
– Two-factor authentication for added security
– Built-in identity verification – which will be essential under ECCTA

What You Need to Do

If you’re responsible for filing confirmation statements, updating company details, or submitting accounts, you’ll need to switch to the new system before the October deadline.
We strongly recommend setting up your GOV.UK One Login well in advance to avoid disruption – especially as identity verification is becoming mandatory for many roles, including directors, PSCs, and those submitting filings on a company’s behalf.

Why This Matters

This isn’t just a login update – it’s part of a much larger shift in how Companies House manages and verifies corporate data. Combined with new requirements around identity verification and digital-only filings, it signals a clear move toward greater accountability, security, and transparency.

Companies that don’t make the switch in time could face delays or be unable to meet statutory filing deadlines – and that brings risk.
